NoodleTools for Eastwood Researchers

The library has purchased a subscription to NoodleTools, a computer-based program that will assist you in creating bibliographies, citations, and notecards for your research papers. NoodleTools is available for your use at school and at home. Click on the link for more information about NoodleTools!

How to Use NoodleTools

CREATING AN ACCOUNT
A first-time user needs to create an account.
1. Go to http://www.noodletools.com/login.php
2. Select the link “Create a Personal ID”.
3. Enter the School/Library Password that is used to access any Eastwood Academy computer
4. Click on Sign In
5. Identify yourself as a student or library patron, along with your expected graduation year
6. Choose a Personal ID and password. You will use this personal ID and password to access your saved work.
7. Choose your personal Easy Login Retrieval
8. Click on the “Register” button
9. You are now automatically logged into your personal account


Opening Personal Folder or Logging into Account
After creating an account, you only need to enter your personal ID and password to access your account. If you forget your password, the link “Forgot my password” will take you through a process to retrieve a hint about your password.

Main Screen

On the main screen after accessing your account, the following information and/or options are available:

My Lists – this is where you create a new list or work with an existing list
Bibliography – select the bibliographic style you wish to use, and a short description of your topic. (MLA Advanced is appropriate for high school students). Click on “Create List” to start your new list.
Notecards – after your list is created, create notecards for each citation used.
Help – explore the Noodle Tools Knowledge Base, NoodleBib User’s Guide, PowerPoint presentations of overview of this program, tutorials, links to “Contact us.”

Your Personal Folder
Create a New List – By clicking this button, you will begin the process of creating a new bibliography. (see below under “My Bibliography” for more information)
My Lists - This table is a list of all created and still activated bibliographic lists you have created. Each list will have the following information provided: the description, which is a hyperlink to enter the list; the style (APA or MLA); the level; created date; revised date; expiration date; and if the list is shared. A check mark will appear under “Shared?” to indicate that the list is shared; the check mark will change to a “new” icon when there is new feedback that can be viewed by opening the list.
Share Button - By check marking a list, you are able to share the list with an instructor. After clicking the share button, you will be prompted to enter the “Class Name” that an instructor has created and given to you.
Delete Button - By check marking a list, you are able to delete the list permanently from your account. Note: Lists will also be removed from an account if they remain inactive up to a year and they expire. You may extend the expiration date simply by clicking on the list.

My Bibliography
· Creating a new list - To create a new list, click Create a New List. On the New List screen, you must provide some information before NoodleBib allows you to begin a list.
Choose the list style and version. Select the style format you want to use. You will not be able to switch between MLA and APA format later. If you are using MLA, you will want to use “MLA Advanced”.
Provide a brief description. Enter a brief description that will help you remember the contents or purpose of this list when you see it later among other lists in your Personal Folder. At the bottom of the page, click “Start Adding Citations” to begin a new list. If you change your mind, click Cancel to return to your Personal Folder.
